The Sidewalk Project

The Sidewalk Project is a partnership with Perth North Church where a full time Christian Youthworker delivers street based youthwork in the city centre at the weekends which is getting to know the young people.

Sidewalk arrange for teams of volunteers, and student/ full time youthworkers to be on the streets of Perth 3 evenings a week and also Saturday afternoons, in an attempt to develop and sustain positive relationships with young people, which may enable young people to consider alternatives to risk behaviours such as underage drinking. Through these contacts and relationships Sidewalk can offer further personalized support or refer the young person to other agencies, or to other programmes within Perth YMCA for additional support.
