Schools Work YMCA in Perth have always been involved in supporting young people who are finding school a difficult place to work at their best. Working with the staff we devise different programmes depending on the needs of individuals but all the projects are designed to help the young people to realize their immense potential. Depending on funding we provide: one to one support for pupils who are struggling with main stream classes; and group work where young people can develop self confidence and a better understanding of who they are what they want to do with the rest of their lives. This kind of work has made a real difference to a lot of young people helping them to get back in to learning in a way that suited them. If you would like to know more contact Jill on 01738 630121 Accreditation In all the work that we do with young people we realize that it is very important to acknowledge a young persons achievement. With that in mind we try to make sure that as many young people as possible get the chance to gain some accreditation for their achievements. This often takes the form of getting a John Muir Award, an ASDAN award (Award Scheme Development Accreditation Network), or a number of SQA awards e.g. Intermediate 1 / 2 or Access 3. We also enable those young people interested in youth work as a career to gain an SVQ 2 in Youth Work. For the shorter more informal project pieces of work at YMCA we give participants an certificate or cup to acknowledge their achievements. |
