Perth & District YMCA in partnership with Perth College UHI and Perth & Kinross Council are proud to facilitate the Team programme for young people from Perth and Kinross. This 12 week personal development programme gives young people (aged 16 to 25) a wide variety of experiences, skills and qualifications to prepare them for their next steps in life.
The programme re-engages young people, helping them to think about their future and develop their potential. In many cases it changes their lives. The main elements of the programme are:
- A residential week
- Planning and delivery of a community project
- Completion of a work placement
- Taking part in the Team Challenge
- Stage a team presentation, during which they recount their experience
For Team 15, Police Scotland are working in partnership with the YMCA in Perth to co deliver this fantastic opportunity.
The group of young people pictured with Barry Davidson YMCA Team Leader and Constable Gavin Munro started their 12 week self – development programme on Monday, 2 October 2017.
Ian Scott, Local Area Commander for Perth said “I welcome the opportunity for police officers to work in conjunction with the YMCA in Perth to help make a positive difference to the lives of young people”
Partnership Inspector Suzanne Smith – “Working with the YMCA to deliver the Team Programme is an excellent opportunity for us to break down barriers between police and young people. Furthermore it will allow us the opportunity to support the young people to identify and take part in a Community Project whilst they build upon their skill set and consider their options for the future.
Barry Davidson, YMCA Team Leader – “Delivering the Team Programme in partnership with Police Scotland will further support the work of the YMCA and Prince’s Trust programme by encouraging positive relationships between young people and the police.”
