Charlie Lindsay (pictured 3rd from the right) is a young man with a huge future ahead of him. Every year Craigie & Moncreiffe Church (partnered with Perth YMCA) award a young person with the Craigie Quaich. This Quaich is for any young person in the church and community that has done exceptional work throughout the year. Be that volunteering or being a support for others in any form.
Matthew from Revive nominated Charlie for this year’s Craigie Quaich as he has done so much good work since being part of the Revive Youth Project. Matthew first met Charlie back in 2014 and quickly realised that this young man was a very upbeat and likeable character that would be well suited to the church youth work in place. Matthew mentioned: “Charlie is a well-liked and loved young man who has friends not only in the community he lives in but all over Scotland. Everyone seems to know Charlie and for the right reasons which is always encouraging to hear.” When the Revive Project set up the Revive Young Leaders Network, which eventually led to the Revive committee being set up, Charlie was at the heart of it all. Giving up his spare time to help run youth groups and be a role model for others was just part of his weekly routine. Charlie happily took on responsibility of chairman for the Revive Committee, Which consisted of 6 young people, and what a job he done. He led his committee well and proved his ability to not shy from stepping out of his comfort zone. During Charlie’s time as Chairman he helped organise and take part in various youth and community events which brought young people and the community together in ways not done before. As well as this Charlie has been part of various joint youth events with Comrie & Dundurn Parish Church and Aberfeldy Parish Church where he impressed youth leaders there and made a lasting impact as well as making true friendships with young people part of those communities.
Just like all of us, Charlie has his own challenges in life but through all of these he still shows up eager as ever and willing to lead from the front. Matthew commented: “What an amazing set of qualities and skills Charlie has shown he has during his time with us. I am really happy for him with all he has achieved in a relatively short space of time and I’m excited to see where life takes him.”
Charlie is just one of many young people who are showing their potential through the various projects our YMCA offers. We wish him the best of luck with whatever he chooses to do in life and a huge well done from his Yfamily here in Perth.
