The ‘Your Time’ project – which helps young people into sustainable work – has just completed its 2nd year since being launched in 2014. This year we engaged with 39 young people, 21 of whom gained employment and 2 were accepted into Further Education. Furthermore, through our relationships with 14 local employers, 26 young people engaged in work experience opportunities. Eighteen young people have also worked through our Employability qualification, achieving a SCQF Level 4 – which for many was their first-ever or highest-ever qualification. Finally, Your Time was debuted in HMYOI Polmont for 4 young people as they were approaching release, and acted as a valuable support for them at what is a critical time in their reintegration back into society.
Going into the project’s third year, we’re delighted that we are now able to expand our eligibility criteria to include 17-year-olds – taking the age range to 17-25. We are also able to accept young people from the entire Tayside area, expanding it from just Perth & Kinross. We received a fair amount of interest concerning young people of this age group and locality over the last two years, and so we have adapted the project so we can accept referrals like these in the future.
We owe a huge thank you to the Robertson Trust, Gannochy Trust, and Henry Duncan Awards for their generosity in funding what has become a very significant project for many young people.
