This year’s YMCA Challenge is happening in the form of our very own Y-Athlon.
Previously we have cycled from Dunkirk to Prague. This year we intend to explore our own backyard as we cycle 104 miles from Perth to Fort William, hike 11 miles up Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK, and kayak 22 miles of Loch Ness, the largest body of water in the UK… All in three days! The YMCA staff team will be undertaking this challenge and we will all be engaging in intensive training in the lead up to this challenge. Just as the young people we work with are from various walks of life with different skills and experiences, our staff team cover a variety of demographics and fitness levels, and are all committed to being challenged beyond our current capabilities.
Funds raised through the Y-Challenges will allow us to continue to offer various outdoor activities and residentials to young people who may not otherwise have access to these opportunities. Our residentials offer young people the chance to challenge their limitations and realise potential they may not have known they held. These activities challenge our young people physically and develop them mentally within a safe and encouraging environment.
