Perth and District YMCA worked to change the attitudes and opinions of young people aged ten to eighteen when it came to drugs and alcohol. We worked within youth groups across Perth, Aberfeldy and Comrie to have a lasting impact on young people’s attitudes towards drug abuse and alcohol misuse.
This issue affected hundreds of young people both directly and indirectly within these communities. With a youth work approach, we aimed to affect positive change that would lead to brighter futures for the young people involved.
The truth is that young people have been told how dangerous drugs and alcohol can be but this rarely deters them. We are took a different approach that allows more self-reflection.
We encouraged the young people involved to make a positive impact by sharing their learning with the other young people attending the youth groups.
